What is constipation-

  • A condition in which there is difficulty in emptying the bowels usually associated with hardened feces

Chronic Constipation

  • Infrequent bowel movements or difficult passage of stools that persists for several weeks or longer

OIC Constipation

  • Opioid Induced Constipation- adverse reaction

What are some of the symptoms

  • Passing fewer than three stools a week
  • Having lumpy or hard stools
  • Straining to have bowel movements
  • Feeling as though there a blockage in your rectum that prevents bowel movements
  • Feeling as though you can’t completely empty the stool from your rectum
  • Needing help to empty your rectum, such as using your hands to press on your abdomen and using a finger to remove stool from your rectum

Problems with the nerves around the colon and rectum

Neurological problems can affect the nerves that causes muscles in the colon and rectum to contract and move stool through the intestines.

  • Autonomic neuropathy
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson disease
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Stroke

Complications

  • Swollen veins in your anus hemorrhoids
  • Torn skin in your anus (anal fissure)
  • Stool that can’t be expelled (fecal impaction)
  • Intestine that protrudes from the anus (rectal prolapsed)

What are some of the causes of Constipation

  • A diet heavy in meat and dairy products
  • A diet heavy in processed foods, which are high in fat and sugar
  • Lack of high-fiber foods
  • Not enough water and other fluids
  • To much alcohol or caffeine
  • Lack of exercise
  • Ignoring the urge to usehe bathroom

Always check on your child

Are they Straining – Do they go to the bathroom at least once a Day? Is their Blood in their stool? Are they straining?

Things You Can Do

What will cause a *Quick Work*

  • 2 teaspoons of Himalayan Sea Salt
  • 32oz of warm water
  • First thing in the morning on an empty stomach
  • Dissolve the 2 teaspoons of Sea salt in 32 oz of warm water
  • Drink down within 15 mins
  • Lay down
  • Things should start to move out in about 45 mins to an hour

Things that will help things go a little smoother

  • More Fiber in your diet
  • Probiotics-Get all the bad bacteria out and add good bacteria

  • Eliminate meat maybe a couple of days a week
